Hanna was born in Turkey, the daughter of German missionaries. Her childhood was full of fascinating experiences, as her parents ministered to others by whatever means available to them. As a young woman, Hanna attended nursing school at the University of Freiburg, where nurses were trained for work abroad. She then assisted Professor Brauchle at a large hospital in Dresden, Germany which primarily used natural healing methods. It was there that Hanna first began to discover many amazing ways to restore health using herbs, special diets, baths, massages, and much more.
After the war, Hanna and her family moved to the United States, eventually settling in Boulder, Colorado where in 1958 she opened one of the first health food stores in the country.
Hanna continually researched and experimented with natural healing methods at an inexhaustible pace.
She began sharing her favorite recipes and herbal combinations with people that visited her store. Soon, lines of people began forming in her store waiting to hear Hanna's suggestions for their health issues.
To accommodate the large number of visitors from all over the country, interested in learning her work, Hanna began the Peaceful Meadow Retreat, a three-day workshop at her home in Boulder. Here students learned about natural health and healing methods.
Demand for Hanna's recipes and master formulas became so great that she started Kroeger Herb Company in 1978. Now her herbal combinations and natural health products would be more readily available to the general public.
What was so important for Hanna to know was that her work would go on. She has left a legacy. Her life will always be a shining example of a simple yet powerful message to humanity: "Help each other."
